I am a problem solver, strategic thinker, planning master, and Michigan lover. 

With 20 years of professional experience, I specialize in providing communications leadership and strategic initiative management for growing organizations. I love working with mission-focused teams to extend their impact, particularly during a period of growth or change. My colleagues and clients trust me to provide expertise, sound judgment, and personalized support. 

Prior to founding River & Birch Consulting, I was Head of Outreach & Strategic Programming at 20Fathoms, a nonprofit organization providing startup support services to entrepreneurs. Initially hired as the organization’s first Director of Marketing & Communications, I was responsible for building a communications program from the ground up to grow membership and program participation. As my role expanded, I also oversaw fundraising initiatives and developed the organization’s first startup education program to support early-stage entrepreneurs.  

Previous roles included serving as Senior Marketing & Communications Strategist at Munson Healthcare and Communications Director at the Land Conservancy of West Michigan. In each of these roles, I was responsible for leading communications initiatives for deeply established but evolving brands. Key accomplishments include overseeing the development of Munson Healthcare’s first comprehensive system website by integrating 25+ previously stand-alone sites, and leading a comprehensive rebranding initiative to modernize the 20-year-old brand and communications at the Land Conservancy of West Michigan.

Michigan is my home. I am originally from the Lake Huron town of Alpena and now live in the Lake Michigan town of Traverse City. I particularly love to explore the area’s trails, waterways, and local food scene with my husband and toddler.
